I don’t think you can look anywhere at the moment without seeing news about Covid-19. The virus that quickly became a global pandemic. Fortunately Mikey and Tessa were able to have their wedding a few days before the whole of New Zealand went into lockdown with self-isolation within your own four walls mandatory.

It’s not often I get to photograph a wedding at a private venue, let alone a private residence. Tessa’s parents have the most beautiful house sitting on the hills overlooking Lake Karapiro. An overcast day with patches of sun at the right time meant it wasn’t too hot nor too cold. But the gas heaters helped with the evening chill!

Mikey and Tessa both got ready in the same house: the boys downstairs and the girl upstairs. I loved being a part of this wedding and the low key vibes. With their two little boys running around, only the closest of friends and family and an informal ‘reception’ with the biggest grazing table I’ve ever eaten from!

Enjoy.
